Genealogy and Research Library

The DuBois Area Historical Society has an impressive collection of resources in its library from those wanting to learn about the area, its people, the industry, and its history. It includes such items as:

  • Reference books (County histories, local resources, biographical sources, etc.)
  • City directories
  • Obituaries from newspapers (DuBois, Clearfield, Indiana, Punxsutawney)
  • Marriage clippings (same newspapers)
  • School yearbooks
  • Military records
  • Church histories
  • Cemetery records
  • Family files and family genealogy
  • Subject files (businesses, schools, sports, events, etc.)
  • Telephone books
  • Local history audio and visual tapes
  • Photograph collection
  • Monthly Genealogy Newsletter provided upon request
  • Complete book holdings in our library can be found here

The archive is maintained by volunteers who are glad to help those needing assistance.

A donation of $5.00 is expected for research conducted onsite. Photocopies are 25 cents per page.

Those who want service, but are unable to visit on-site, can fill out the RESEARCH REQUEST FORM and mail it to the DuBois Area Historical Society along with an advance donation of $25.00, payable to the Society. This will allow for 2 hours of research time plus a maximum of 25 photocopies. (One name per search, please.)

We are a non-profit, all-volunteer organization. Research donations support the maintenance and expansion of the library.
